Learn when hard gel is the more suitable product choice.
Develop their hard gel application and product control.
Understand different gel viscosities and their uses.
Expand their services to include hard gel overlays and extensions, where appropriate.
Build confidence in selecting and applying the correct product for each client.
Already qualified? Pay for the skills you need, not a beginners’ course you don't.
What Will You Learn?
This four-hour training session combines essential theory with practical application, helping you understand not only how to apply hard gel, but why and when to use it.
Hard Gel Theory
What hard gel is and how it differs from builder gel.
The benefits and limitations of hard gel.
Understanding product viscosity, from thinner self-levelling gels to thicker gels designed for greater structure and control.
Choosing the right product for different nail types and service requirements.
Understanding structure, apex placement and correct nail architecture.
Product curing, compatibility and following manufacturer instructions.
Common application problems, troubleshooting and maintenance considerations.
Safe working practices, client suitability and aftercare.
Practical Hard Gel Application
Natural nail preparation and product application.
Applying hard gel with appropriate structure and balance.
Building and refining the apex.
Product control, levelling and achieving a smooth finish.
Filing and refining the finished enhancement.
Identifying and correcting common application mistakes.
The course is designed to give you a clear understanding of hard gel and how to incorporate it into your existing skill set.
Hard Gel vs Builder Gel: What's the Difference?
Although both products are used to strengthen and enhance nails, they are not interchangeable in every situation.
Builder gel is commonly used to reinforce natural nails, create structure and support natural nail growth. Depending on the formulation, it may offer varying levels of flexibility and may be available in soak-off or file-off systems.
Hard gel is generally a file-off enhancement system that cures to form a durable structure. It is often chosen for clients who need a more structured enhancement or want hard gel extensions.
During your training, you'll explore the differences between these systems, the role of viscosity, and how to make more informed product choices for your clients.
Do I Need to Bring a Model?
A live model is recommended but not essential.
Working on a model gives you the opportunity to practise on natural nails and experience the practical considerations of working with a real client. However, if you are unable to bring a model, a practice hand will be available.
This means you can still participate in the practical training without the added pressure of finding someone to attend with you.
E-File USE and Product Included
If you are already qualified in electric file use, your course includes the relevant e-file use and product needed for your training.
If you have not yet completed e-file training, you can enquire about adding a discounted e-file training option to your booking.
This provides an opportunity to develop your skills further while keeping your training relevant to your existing qualifications and experience.
Please enquire for details of the discounted add-on and any applicable course requirements.
